The
Company was originally founded
in 1964 by John Jenkins in North
East London as an upholstery
renovation business. Joined
by his son Grahame, in 1985,
the company went into office
seating manufacture that year
and began selling all over the
UK.
They moved to Essex in 1991
and began to concentrate their
business around 'Trade' upholstery
as cheap imports in the Office
Seating sector had made this
part of the business unviable.
The 'Trade' work proved highly
successful and accounted for
around 30% of their work back
then. It is by no coincidence
that whatever type of trade
seating orders they won, they
always included the best possible
customer in that field, i.e.
Banqueting chairs for G.N Burgess
& Co, Sofas for Sinclair
Melson Ltd, Office seating for
Verco Office Furniture, over
30,000 stadium chairs for Audience
Systems Ltd and so the list
goes on - over the years some
go, some stay and some come
back.......
The renovation
side of their business was pushed
in the direction of Auditorium
seating, mainly because the
'set-up' to do volume work for
trade customers allowed them
to be competitive in this field.
Having their own separate installation
teams - which have also become
very successful in their own
right -means they do not need
to sub-contract this important
element of a project thus keeping
control of all aspects of a
contract.
Another
area of upholstery covered by
this small but hugely diverse
family business is custom built
seating. They love a challenge
and you'll be amazed at their
capabilities. They made all
of the custom built seating
at the Great Eastern Hotel in
the City of London for Terrance
Conran's CD Partnership. |
